This first-person article is adapted from DomotiK's hands-on YouTube review of the Sanyipace SU02B. Sanyipace invited him to test the product, and his original experiences and opinions—including the drawbacks—have been preserved, with edits for clarity.
I'd been curious about Japanese-style toilets for years. They're popular in Japan but still relatively uncommon in Europe, partly because replacing an entire toilet can be expensive.
I've always felt that washing with water makes more sense than relying entirely on toilet paper. So when Sanyipace offered me the opportunity to test its SU02B smart bidet seat, I was eager to see how it performed.
Unlike a complete smart toilet, the Sanyipace SU02B replaces your existing toilet seat, adding warm-water washing, a heated seat, and other comfort features without requiring a full toilet replacement.

But does it actually deliver a comfortable everyday experience? Here's what I discovered during my hands-on test, including a few things I wish were different.
Unboxing and First Impressions
The SU02B arrived well protected, along with its mounting accessories, a positioning template, water connection components, a filter, deodorizing blocks, a user manual, and a remote control.

My first impression was positive. The plastic housing felt solid, and everything appeared securely assembled. Since this is an electrical appliance designed for bathroom use, I paid particular attention to the overall construction.

Nothing felt loose or poorly fitted, and the materials seemed appropriate for regular bathroom use and cleaning. Of course, first impressions don't tell you everything about long-term durability, but the initial build quality was reassuring.
Installing the Sanyipace SU02B: Easier Than Expected
Installing the SU02B was surprisingly straightforward. The biggest challenge wasn't mounting the seat or connecting the water supply. It was making sure I had a suitable electrical outlet nearby.
Mounting the Seat and Connecting the Water
The installation starts with positioning the rubber mounting inserts and securing the mounting plate. The included positioning template helps align everything correctly.

Once the plate is in place, the seat slides onto the mount and clips securely into position. Buttons on either side allow you to release it if adjustments are needed.
The package also includes the necessary water connection components, filter, and seals. Once you connect the water supply, check the fittings, and power on the unit, the seat completes its initialization process.

Overall, the physical installation was simpler than I expected.
For additional installation tips, Sanyipace also provides a general bidet toilet seat installation guide. Be sure to follow the SU02B's own instructions for model-specific details.
Electrical Outlet and Space Requirements
The electrical connection was the main consideration in my bathroom.
Fortunately, I had an existing electrical supply on the other side of the wall, which allowed me to arrange an additional bathroom outlet. Without nearby power, this could easily be the most complicated part of the installation.
If you need to install a new outlet, that work should be handled by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical requirements.

You should also check the space behind your existing toilet. The SU02B has a rear housing that contains its electrical and mechanical components, so sufficient clearance is important for proper installation and lid movement.
My advice is simple: check your toilet dimensions, rear clearance, and electrical access before ordering.
Using the SU02B: Washing, Heating, and Drying
Once everything was installed, I was particularly interested in how the SU02B would perform during everyday use.
Rear Wash and Feminine Wash
The SU02B features both rear washing and a separate front-wash function for feminine cleansing.

A built-in seat sensor detects when someone is seated, allowing the washing functions to operate. Before the nozzle extends, the system performs a brief rinse.
The washing experience is highly adjustable. I could change the water pressure, water temperature, and nozzle position to find settings that felt comfortable.
There are also two additional cleaning options:
-
Pulsating wash: Varies the strength of the water stream to create a massage-like effect.
-
Oscillating wash: Moves the spray back and forth to cover a wider area.
These adjustments make a noticeable difference. Rather than being limited to one fixed spray, I could personalize the cleaning experience.
In my testing, the washing functions worked effectively, and I found water-based cleaning much more comfortable than relying on toilet paper alone.
Heated Seat and Warm-Air Drying
The heated seat is another feature I appreciated.
The SU02B includes an automatic temperature mode that adjusts the seat heating according to the surrounding temperature. I haven't tested it during winter yet, so I'm particularly interested in seeing how it performs during colder months.

The warm-air drying function is also convenient. After a rear-wash cycle, the system can automatically transition to drying, reducing the need for toilet paper.
One detail worth mentioning is that the drying function is designed primarily for rear use, with no separate front-drying mode.
In everyday use, I found that I needed very little toilet paper afterward—sometimes just a small amount to remove any remaining moisture.
Remote Control and Personal Settings
The included remote control comes with a wall mount and adhesive backing, making it easy to position near the toilet.
However, there's something I discovered that isn't immediately obvious: the remote is designed to be mounted on the right side of the toilet.

One of its controls adjusts the rear nozzle position forward or backward. If you mount the remote on the left, the directional controls can feel reversed relative to the nozzle's movement. It's a minor inconvenience, but something I'd recommend considering before attaching the remote permanently. Unfortunately, the control orientation cannot be changed in the settings.
The SU02B also doesn't offer individual user profiles. Instead, the seat retains the most recently used settings.
For my household, this wasn't a major problem. We found settings that worked reasonably well for everyone, although dedicated profiles would make things more convenient for households with different preferences.
Electricity and Water Consumption: My Test Results
I was curious about how much electricity an electric bidet seat would actually use, so I monitored the SU02B using a smart plug.
Over a typical week of use, the seat consumed approximately 0.25 kWh of electricity, according to my smart plug. That was lower than I expected. However, this figure reflects my particular usage, settings, and testing conditions. Electricity consumption will naturally vary between households, especially depending on heating preferences and frequency of use.
I also noted approximately 300 mL of water per wash cycle, whether using the rear-wash or feminine-wash function. Actual water consumption depends on the selected wash settings and duration. For my household, the additional water and electricity use didn't seem excessive, particularly considering how much less toilet paper we were using.
These figures are observations from my own testing rather than guaranteed consumption ratings for every household.
What I Didn't Like About the SU02B
Despite my overall positive experience, there were two things that bothered me.
1. The Beeping Sounds Cannot Be Disabled
My biggest complaint is the amount of beeping during operation.
The SU02B produces audible confirmation sounds when certain functions are activated, and unfortunately, the volume cannot be adjusted or turned off. Some people probably won't mind these sounds, but I personally found them irritating. I'd much prefer having the option to lower the volume or turn off the beeps altogether.
It's not a problem that affects the washing performance, but it does influence the overall user experience.
2. The Seat Opening Feels a Little Small
My second complaint concerns the size of the seat opening.
I found it slightly smaller than I would personally prefer. Initially, it felt somewhat restrictive, although I gradually became accustomed to the available space. This is understandable to a degree. A smart bidet seat needs to accommodate electrical and mechanical components inside its housing, which can reduce the usable opening compared with a conventional toilet seat.
Still, this is something worth considering before buying, especially if you prefer a more spacious seat.
Is the Sanyipace SU02B Worth the Price?
In my opinion, yes—with a few considerations.

At the time of my review, the SU02B was available for under €300 in my market, making it a relatively affordable way to experience many of the features associated with Japanese-style smart toilets. For that price, I was impressed by the combination of adjustable warm-water washing, separate front and rear cleansing, oscillating and pulsating modes, heated seating, and warm-air drying. More importantly, these weren't just features listed on a product page. I was able to use them in my own bathroom, and the washing functions genuinely improved my everyday routine.
That said, I wouldn't ignore the limitations.
If you are particularly sensitive to electronic beeping, prefer a larger seat opening, or want individual user profiles, the SU02B may not meet every expectation. Likewise, you should confirm that your existing toilet is compatible and that a suitable power outlet is available before purchasing. For someone who wants the comfort of a Japanese-style bidet without replacing the entire toilet, however, I think the SU02B offers good value.

Final Verdict: My Experience With the SU02B
Overall, the Sanyipace SU02B pleasantly surprised me.
Installation was relatively simple; the build quality made a good first impression, and the washing functions performed effectively throughout my testing. I particularly appreciated the adjustable spray settings, heated seat, and warm-air drying. Together, they made everyday bathroom use feel more comfortable and convenient.
There are definitely things I would change, especially the constant beeping and the relatively small seat opening. Neither issue, however, was enough to outweigh the benefits in my experience. Before testing the SU02B, I'd been curious about Japanese-style toilets for a long time. Now that I've experienced washing with water as part of my daily routine, I can understand why so many people find it difficult to return to a conventional toilet seat.
For me, it's an upgrade I genuinely appreciate.
